David started his legal career at Kocks & Partners, a Brussels-based boutique law firm, focussing on assisting foreign clients in doing (cross-border) business in Belgium. The firm holds a dominant position in the competetive Belgian market when it comes to assisting Germanspeaking clients (mainly companies and high net individuals from Germany, Austria and Switzerland), as all its lawyers are either native German speakers or fluently in German language.
Meanwhile, David is an equity partner at Kocks & Partners, where his practice is fully internationally orientated, adding a global element to the cross-border scope of the firm with a special focus on East-European clients. David both advises and litigates for his clients before state and arbitration courts in areas as distribution law (including commercial agency, franchise and distributorships), insolvency law and commercial contracts. He also represented his clients in technical expert investigations both inside and outside Belgium.
Clients contact David to find legal solutions on a global scale due to his strong international legal network which consists out of affiliated offices in Bratislava (ES Partners), Dubai (The ART Lawyers) and New York (Law Offices of Christelle Clément). At the same time, David is member of some of the leading legal networks in their field such as the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocat (AIJA – where David holds currently the position of Vice-President of the Distribution Law Commission), the International Distribution Institute (IDI), the Dutch Association for Distribution, Franchise and Commercial Agency Law (DFA) and the Association for German-Dutch Lawyers (DNRV).
David is a native Dutch speaker and fluent in German, English and French, with basic knowledge of Slovak. He has been a speaker and/or moderator on legal seminars throughout Europe (Munich, Lisbon, Baden-Baden, Torino, …).
